I was looking for a way to make meal prep easier. Since I own a chest freezer, I thought pre-portioning certain foods would help. While searching for freezer trays, I was surprised at how expensive the larger ones can be. That’s when I came across the Zip Standing Freezer Tray.
I primarily use this tray for freezing pre-cooked beans and leftover vegetable broth, and it works great for those purposes. Each cup has clear, raised markings for 8 oz, 4 oz, 250 ml, and 125 ml, making it easy to portion out exact amounts.
The lip that runs along the outside also contains an embedded metal ring. This ring gives some rigidity to the tray so that it won’t fold in half when it is fully loaded and you are trying to cary it to the freezer. One down side of this ring though is that the lack of flexibility along the top can actually make it sort of hard to get the frozen contents out. The lack of wiggle room means the first thing I take out of the tray after freezing can be a bit of a struggle to get out. The rest of the cups seem to come out easy enough though, so just expect to struggle on that first item.
Another advantage is that the tray is dishwasher safe, which is convenient. That said, I often wash it by hand since cleanup is generally easy. One downside I’ve noticed is staining inside the cups. This seems to be a common issue with silicone kitchen tools, so while it’s not unique to this product, it’s still disappointing to see something that’s otherwise clean look stained.

The Zip Standing Freezer Tray is a sturdy, dishwasher-safe option with clear portion markings, though its rigidity makes removing the frozen items a bit challenging.
